1. Register Your Application for Facebook for Developers
The first step is to create an app on Facebook for Developers.
Log in to Facebook to access your Facebook Developers Account. You must note that you can create a new account or use the existing one.
If you create a new one, Facebook will send a verification code to your registered mobile phone number.
Select the None option to create custom to create a custom set of permissions and products.
Click on Next to continue.
2. Register New App
Register your new app by adding your name and email address. You can also connect with your business manager if you have an account and would like to connect it.
If you have tried this several times, you should go through a reCaptcha security check.
3. Configure Instagram Basic Display
After creating the app, you need to configure the basic Instagram display.
Go back to the basic display and scroll down to the bottom. Click on the Create New button as shown:
Choose a name for the Instagram App ID.
4. Getting The Access Token
In this section, you are required to add an Instagram Tester. This allows you to generate the Access Token.
Go to the Basic Display section as shown:
You must also add a tester to the Instagram Tester section.
The next step is to click on the Add Instagram Testers. Add the username tester ID, which is your Instagram Username. A drop-down menu with suggested IG users. It is important to select the correct user.
After that, log in to your Instagram account.
Go to Settings > Apps and Websites. Click on the Tester Invites tab and approve the tester ID you created:
Navigate to the Facebook Developers dashboard, open your created app, and navigate to the basic display section. The next step is to go to the User Token Generator Section to generate the Access Token.
You will be redirected to an Instagram window popup where you must allow specific permissions before generating the token.
The last step is to copy the Access Token in the popup.
